Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQs)
[1] Does a low OMS Rating necessarily mean that the music is bad?
No. For instance, the music may be intentionally-restrained (children’s music, easy-listening music). Or it may be intentionally focused around certain kinds of stimuli (music for ballroom dancing).
[2] If I love a piece of music with a low OMS Rating, is there something wrong?
Probably not. Even “average” music is very rich in stimuli. So, a simple pop tune might have something in it which “grabs” a certain listener’s attention and holds it for a long time. (However low-OMS-rating music will tend to get boring a lot faster than music with a high rating.)
